Independence Found Only in Jesus, the ‘King of kings’

Psa 2:10-12 Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth. Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling. Kiss the Son, lest He be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in Him.

Psa 47:1 [To the chief Musician, A Psalm for the sons of Korah.] O clap your hands, all ye people; shout unto God with the voice of triumph. v2 For the LORD most high [is] terrible; [he is] a great King over all the earth. v3 He shall subdue the people under us, and the nations under our feet. v4 He shall choose our inheritance for us, the excellency of Jacob whom he loved. Selah.

v5 God is gone up with a shout, the LORD with the sound of a trumpet. v6 Sing praises to God, sing praises: sing praises unto our King, sing praises. v7 For God [is] the King of all the earth: sing ye praises with understanding. v8 God reigneth over the heathen: God sitteth upon the throne of his holiness. v9 The princes of the people are gathered together, [even] the people of the God of Abraham: for the shields of the earth [belong] unto God: he is greatly exalted.

Psa 22:27 All the ends of the world shall remember and turn unto the LORD: and all the kindreds of the nations shall worship before thee. v28 For the kingdom [is] the LORD’S: and he [is] the governor among the nations. v29 All [they that be] fat upon earth shall eat and worship: all they that go down to the dust shall bow before him: and none can keep alive his own soul. v30 A seed shall serve him; it shall be accounted to the Lord for a generation. v31 They shall come, and shall declare his righteousness unto a people that shall be born, that he hath done [this].

Psa 95:1 O come, let us sing unto the LORD: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation. v2 Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms. v3 For the LORD [is] a great God, and a great King above all gods. v4 In his hand [are] the deep places of the earth: the strength of the hills [is] his also. v5 The sea [is] his, and he made it: and his hands formed the dry [land].

v6 O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the LORD our maker. v7 For he [is] our God; and we [are] the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand. To day if ye will hear his voice, v8 Harden not your heart, as in the provocation, [and] as [in] the day of temptation in the wilderness: v9 When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my work. v10 Forty years long was I grieved with [this] generation, and said, It [is] a people that do err in their heart, and they have not known my ways: v11 Unto whom I sware in my wrath that they should not enter into my rest.

Psa 117:1 O praise the LORD, all ye nations: praise him, all ye people. v2 For his merciful kindness is great toward us: and the truth of the LORD [endureth] for ever. Praise ye the LORD.

Psa 72:1 [[A Psalm] for Solomon.] Give the king thy judgments, O God, and thy righteousness unto the king’s son. v2 He shall judge thy people with righteousness, and thy poor with judgment. v3 The mountains shall bring peace to the people, and the little hills, by righteousness. v4 He shall judge the poor of the people, he shall save the children of the needy, and shall break in pieces the oppressor.

v5 They shall fear thee as long as the sun and moon endure, throughout all generations. v6 He shall come down like rain upon the mown grass: as showers [that] water the earth. v7 In his days shall the righteous flourish; and abundance of peace so long as the moon endureth.

v8 He shall have dominion also from sea to sea, and from the river unto the ends of the earth. v9 They that dwell in the wilderness shall bow before him; and his enemies shall lick the dust. v10 The kings of Tarshish and of the isles shall bring presents: the kings of Sheba and Seba shall offer gifts. v11 Yea, all kings shall fall down before him: all nations shall serve him.

v12 For he shall deliver the needy when he crieth; the poor also, and [him] that hath no helper. v13 He shall spare the poor and needy, and shall save the souls of the needy. v14 He shall redeem their soul from deceit and violence: and precious shall their blood be in his sight.

v15 And he shall live, and to him shall be given of the gold of Sheba: prayer also shall be made for him continually; [and] daily shall he be praised. v16 There shall be an handful of corn in the earth upon the top of the mountains; the fruit thereof shall shake like Lebanon: and [they] of the city shall flourish like grass of the earth. v17 His name shall endure for ever: his name shall be continued as long as the sun: and [men] shall be blessed in him: all nations shall call him blessed.

v18 Blessed [be] the LORD God, the God of Israel, who only doeth wondrous things. v19 And blessed [be] his glorious name for ever: and let the whole earth be filled [with] his glory; Amen, and Amen.
